Filled to Overflowing
I don’t know about you, but I desire to be so full of God that He flows out of me and touches everyone I meet. So, I do the things I know to do to get “topped up” with God’s love and goodness. I spend time in His Word. I pray. I attend church and worship. All good things, right?
Bowed Down By Burdens
And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. - Luke 13:11-13
Comparing, Complaining, or Content?
No matter where you live or what stage of life you’re in, we all have to make a daily (and sometimes moment-to-moment) choice about our attitudes. Yes, as difficult as it is to believe and admit, we can—and do—choose our attitudes. We put them on just as we would a warm coat or a pair of socks. Sometimes we do it without even thinking, but we do it just the same.
Sweeter Than Honey
How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! - Psalm 119:103
On more than one occasion, the psalmist tells us that the Word of God is sweeter than honey. He expresses how spending time in God's Word should be a delight, not a duty. And while I've had many beautiful moments in my Bible, I confess that sometimes I treat my time with God as more of an obligation than a privilege. I don't mean to. I don't want to. But it happens more often than I care to admit.
Doing It Afraid
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. - Psalm 56:3
Have you ever wanted to do something for God but felt so paralyzed by fear that you refused to step out in faith? Have you ever felt God calling you to something that scared the water out of you (figuratively or literally)?
