Wrapped in His Promise
We are one day away from the New Year. Today is a great day to look back over the month and realize that everything we need for the future is wrapped up in the promise of the manger.
The Christmas story isn't just a sweet memory. It is a guarantee of God's provision for everything to come. The most powerful promise we have for the next twelve months is affirmed by the fact that God has already fulfilled the ultimate promise.
Paul’s words to the Philippians are a beautiful summary of the meaning of Christmas (Philippians 4:19, KJV): "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Think about that promise through the lens of Christmas:
My God shall supply all your need: He didn't just meet our spiritual need (salvation). He supplied our every earthly need by sending His Son to walk, live, and suffer as we do. If He gave His best—His only begotten Son—He is certainly able to supply our smaller needs like money, wisdom, comfort, and strength.
According to His riches in glory: He doesn't provide from His leftovers. He provides from His endless, divine abundance.
By Christ Jesus: The channel for all this provision is the baby born in Bethlehem.
As you look toward January, you might feel the weight of new responsibilities, financial goals, or personal challenges. It's easy to worry about "how" you will meet those needs.
My encouragement today is this: Stop relying on your ability to hustle and start relying on God’s ability to supply. If God was rich enough in glory to wrap the Messiah in swaddling clothes and send Him to earth, He is certainly rich enough to meet every single one of your needs in the coming year. You are covered, supplied, and secured by the King of Kings.
