The Star Still Shines
As the holiday celebrations wind down, it's easy to feel a little let down. The lights come down, the music stops playing, and we face the reality of life outside the holiday bubble.
But the beautiful truth is that the significance of Christmas does not fade with the decorations. The "star" that led the Wise Men to Christ still shines.
The author of Hebrews reminds us of the constant nature of our Savior in Hebrews 13:8 (KJV): "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."
This is an incredibly stabilizing truth, especially as we encounter the changing circumstances of the new year.
The Christ who was born in the manger yesterday is the King who is present with you today, and the Sovereign Lord who holds your future for ever. His faithfulness does not depend on the season or circumstances; it is an eternal aspect of His character.
The world changes. Our feelings change. Our situations change. But Christ remains the same.
This means that:
The peace He offered on December 25th is still available today.
The wisdom of the Wonderful Counsellor is still accessible today.
The unstoppable love of the Mighty God is just as active today.
My encouragement is to resist the post-holiday slump by focusing on the constancy of Christ. Don't pack up your faith with the ornaments. Keep your eyes fixed on the Light that cannot be extinguished.
Because Jesus Christ is the same today as He was on Christmas Day, the hope, joy, and power of the Nativity are just as real and relevant in your life right now. Let the constancy of Christ be the anchor that carries you through the end of the year and into the next.
